In the Summer edition of the SOS Newsletter I wondered what members’ favourite Sussex birds were. I suggested that members may like to let me know their three favourite Sussex birds by e-mailing their selection to firstname.lastname@example.org.
I defined ‘Sussex birds’ as species which breed regularly in Sussex. Sorry, but historic records of nesting by species such as Bee-eaters don’t qualify. Similarly – and however much we might hope – Black-winged Stilts can’t be classed as regular breeders.
So what are your three favourite birds? Put them in order of preference and I’ll award your first choice three points, two for your second choice and one for the third. I’ll then tot up the points and put the results in the next Newsletter. But hurry – I need your selection by 6th August in order that I can meet the Newsletter deadline.
