Snow Goose

1983 [14 white-phase adults seen inthe Pagham/Bracklesham (WS) area (and Hampshire) from 19 January to 12 March 14 were almost certainly escapes or from feral populations.]   *
1984 [A flock of 3 white-phase adults and 4 immatures which flew north over Ferring (WS) on 2 March are perhaps most genuine.]   *
1988 [Five white-phase adults at Bewl Water (ES) from 6 to 8 December were almost certainly escapes or from feral populations.]   *
1997 [Two, one a blue-phase, at Pagham Harbour (WS) on14 March appeared very wild.]   *
1999 An adult white morph at Scotney Court GP (ES) from 3 February to 23 March was seen to fly in from the N with 5 Barnacle Geese, with which it remained throughout its stay.  Although of unknown origin, it was considered to be a good candidate for being a genuine wild bird due to its general alertness and wary behaviour and its appearance during an almost unprecedented influx of nearctic waterbirds into Britain in the early part of 1999.   *
