New BIRDS of SUSSEX avifauna

Sponsor a Species

We need to raise funds to make the new Birds of Sussex avifauna happen. This book will reflect the 2007-11 Combined Winter and Breeding Bird Atlas results (and much more besides) and is expected to be published in 2014/15. Apart from seeking commercial donations (in a difficult climate) we are offering SOS members, local birdwatchers and all those interested in the birds of Sussex the opportunity to sponsor a species in the forthcoming book. Your sponsorship will be acknowledged by a comment at the foot of the species page (“sponsored by…..” or “sponsored in memory of ……” or, if you want to make an anonymous donation, “sponsored by an SOS member /sponsored by an Atlas volunteer/sponsored by a Sussex bird watcher”).

Sponsors will be eligible for a £5 discount off the pre-publication and full publication price of the avifauna for each species sponsored. Book prices have yet to be set (but the more sponsorship we get the lower the book price will be!)

All you need to do is to select one (or more) of the non-sponsored species on the Sussex Bird List below and fill in the form - SOS Avifauna Appeal - donation form - for your chosen species. Species which are already sponsored are shown in red. Sponsorship for each species costs a minimum of £30, but you are very welcome to donate more and of course you can sponsor more than one species.

The list below has now been updated to include all 391 species on the Sussex Bird List.
