1004 BLYTH'S PIPIT (Anthus godlewskii)

1882One obtained near Brighton (ES) on 23 October was recorded as a Tawny Pipit A. campestris (Walpole-Bond) until it was discovered by Williamson when researching large pipit identification in the early 1960s (Shrubb, M. 1979 Blyth's Pipit; a bird new to Britain and Sussex SxBR 31:35 and Williamson, K. 1977. Blyth's Pipit in the Western Palearctic. Bull. BOC 97:60-1). The skin is in the Natural History Museum (Tring), ex coll: Swaysland, reg. no. 83-10-10-1.
