| Sighting Description |
Upon arriving at Arundel Wetlands we were greeted by 5 soaring Common Buzzards and a Peregrine before we even entered the Visitor Centre. Many ducks, mainly Mallard and Teal, and groups of Canada Geese were skating on the ice as were three Water Rail (photo attached), and hundreds of Coot. We were peering out into the bright sunlight outside the Reedbed Hide when Dad suddenly spotted something at the edge of the reeds. A Bittern! Mum saw it just before it disappeared into the reeds but I blinked and missed it! We returned to that hide later at the end of our visit but alas it did not show again. As we were leaving a Sparrowhawk flew into the trees high above the car park. |
