| Sighting Description |
Back in the late 60's there were records of Bittern at Ivy lake and me as a long haired teenager always dreamt of seeing one there. Today, 40+ years later one was sitting amongst the reeds looking fabulous! Dave Smith also managed to put that one to bed too so celebrations all round! Pagham Lagoon still held the male Scaup, a couple of Goldeneyes and a Kingfisher. The sight of the day was a flock of Black-tailed Godwits in flight and it was impossible to estimate how many birds were involved but 500+ at least. The harbour entrance had 30+ Mediterranean Gulls looking elegant in the sun. Two Cetti's Warblers singing on the North Wall was a welcome sound after the big freeze. An excellent morning. (R Ives, Dave Smith & Dorian Mason). |
