Sighting Description

A very active Chiffchaff feeding this morning in a sapling by Hastings East Hill may have been a first spring arrival. Remaining generally subdued however with another frost early on. I have noted just one or two Meadow Pipits coasting eastwards in recent days and the departure of winter visitors and arriving spring passerines does not seem to have set in here as yet. However, a noctambulant recorder reports hearings of Redwing and Curlew in the early hours some nights ago. A young Peregrine stooping at feral pigeons over the Old Town landed in a tree by The Croft.
