| Sighting Description |
An hour's cold morning seawatching for each of the past four days has produced some interest. In NE to E breezes almost all movement was easterly. On 26th the main species was Gannet (130) with most support from 48 auks and 8 divers, but 2 Slavonian Grebes close in were nice. On 27th 108 auks (of those ID'd, most were Razorbills), 61 Gannets and 38 divers (of 17 ID'd, 16 were Red-throated) formed the bulk, but 3 Brent Geese, 3 Shelduck, 7 Wigeon and 2 Common Scoter flew by and a pair of Red-breasted Mergansers were just off-shore. Yesterday there were 78 auks, 62 Gannets, 16 divers (probably all Red-throated) and a Peregrine by, while the Red-breasted Mergansers remained off-shore as they were today. Other birds were scarce today - 16 auks, 7 divers and 3 Gannets, but 5 Pintail, which put down for 30 minutes before continuing W, was an unusual sight. |
