| Sighting Description |
I spent the afternoon and evening on and around the heaths in the Ashdown Forest at Wych Cross. The first bird seen was a Dartford Warbler which showed beautifully ca. 200m west of the 1st carpark. Here there were also 2 Tree Pipits and a singing Lesser Whitethroat. I went back in the evening to the 3rd rather small carpark where at 10pm I enjoyed amazingly close views of Woodcock and Nightjar. Other birds noted in the area were: Stonechat (numerous), Whitethroat (a few singing in the gorse), Linnet (3+) and a few singing Yellowhammers. |
