| Sighting Description |
Started off at Widewater Lagoon and all seemed pretty quiet so concentrated on the sea and noticed several Gannets feeding fairly close in as well as a dozen or so Great Crested Grebes on the sea. A quick look around the lagoon resulted in 2 Kingfishers, 2 Little Egrets, 2 Stonechats, several Redshank and a single Ringed Plover. Walking further east towards Shoreham I noticed a large feeding frenzy offshore with ca. 100 Gannets and several Kittiwakes among the gulls. Whilst watching these I saw 2 Razorbills on the water and then 5 Eider flew west quite close in (including 2 drakes); good number of auks were also moving east. At Shoreham Fort there were neither any Turnstone or Purple Sandpipers present and no sign of the Black Redstart after a brief search. A Peregrine was perched on the Power Station. |
