| Sighting Description |
At least 2 bramblings with ca. 20 chaffinches in Upperton's field this morning - they were near the cattle feed, viewable from the visitor centre window or from the viewing area at the start of the nature trail. A male siskin was on the courtyard feeders at 14.00. Large flock of black-tailed godwits still present on North Brooks, between 90 and 160 present during the day. I was also told in great detail about a water rail that was seen catching, drowning and eating a male bullfinch in front of Nettley's hide this afternoon. The bullfinch had apparently come down to drink from the edge of the ditch next to some brambles and was ambushed by the rail, which held it down in the water to kill it and then proceeded to rather gruesomely tear it up. |
