Sighting Description
Unusual sighting today, at about 12.30pm, of a brightly mauve coloured male Crossbill, that flew over the pump at the end of Pagham Harbour, chupping away loudly, before settling first on the top of a small conifer in an adjacent garden, then a larger one further back, before flying back over our heads inland (this time not calling). Also a Wheatear, 3 Little Ringed Plovers, 1 Common Sandpiper and 40+ Black-tailed Godwits on the Ferry and dozens of Sand Martins and a few Swifts over. Incidentally, the white-winged crow phenomenon is quite apparent locally, and I do seem to note them more regularly at this time of year, sugeesting it might have something to do with wing (primary) feather moult.
