I have entered the results of my one-hour watch yesterday in Wisborough Green. I recorded 17 different species and 44 individual birds. I was surprised that some or our regular visitors stayed away, or at least I did not notice them! These included Coal Tit, Long-tailed Tit, Wren, Goldfinch and Magpie. Others were in small numbers: only one Greenfinch and three House Sparrows. Blue Tits were impossible to count accurately. We had prolonged views of a male Great Spotted Woodpecker and a female Blackcap. A Song Thrush was present for most of the hour although there was a short intermission as the garden cleared during a brief visit from a female Sparrowhawk.
