| Sighting Description |
Having been away for a few days I could not resist going for a quick look at Weir Wood. In the flooded field right of the track to the dam a Greenshank was happily feeding among two males and a female Mandarin. On the dam itself was a male Ringed and a Little Ringed Plover plus a Common Sandpiper, a leftover from the mass arrival witnessed by Ralph. Over the main body of water a lone Arctic Tern was keeping company with the long staying pair of Common Terns. The place seemed full of Whitethroats this evening and also corvids, a flock of some 250 - 300 birds are still roaming around. A very rewarding 30 minutes birdwatching. |
