| Sighting Description |
First birding trip of 2009 produced 66 species, the highlights being a very close view of a Water Pipit walking around on ice at the edge of Pett Pools plus an excellent male Marsh Harrier. Dartford Warbler at Rye Harbour. A Goldeneye (female) on Long Pit with 2 Scaup (also female). Snipe all around the shallows of the Ternery Pool and a further (or possibly the same) male Marsh Harrier low over the pub at the Harbour. A common seal was also at the harbour mouth as the tide came in. At home a Grey Wagtail continues to spend most of the day in the garden. It has been with us since 8th December. A Coal Tit is visiting daily plus a Goldcrest is around 2-3 times a week. |
