| Sighting Description |
Redwings and fieldfares returned in force this week after the freeze - on Tuesday there were at least 50 of each feeding the field below the visitor centre. The flood has dropped back significantly, with still plenty wildfowl on site. Large numbers of wigeon, teal and pintail on view from west mead this week. At least 7 shelduck also there this morning (signs of spring!). Barn owl(s) hunting in front of The Hanger and also near the visitor centre yesterday (Thurs) after 16.30. Water rail has been showing regularly from Nettley's hide. Six ruff were at Amberley Wildbrooks (eastern side) yesterday morning and at least 27 Bewick's swans flew south down the valley at 07.50. |
