| Sighting Description |
A lot of activity all in one area, a Great Spotted Woodpecker pecking at a telegraph pole, a couple of Nuthatches feeding on the ground, something I hadn't seen before, a Meadow Pipit was also feeding near them. Then a lot of noise coming from some nearby pine trees, which turned out to be a number of Crossbills, males and females. Later saw 20 deer (Fallow I was informed). Managed to get a long enough glimpse of a female Dartford warbler to get a positive ID of it. Then in the heathland adjacent to the reserve could make out a bird sitting on a bush, which with its black head, white ring round the throat and orangey chest, I took to be a Stonechat, whilst looking at that got distracted by a couple more Dartfords flitting around near it. |
