| Sighting Description |
A circular walk through an extensively wooded area of north West Sussex close to the Surrey border failed to produce any sign of Lesser Spotted Woodpecker. Included within this area is a site which held two pairs in 2007. Much more encouraging was the finding of a singing male Willow Tit, a species that I have not previously recorded ithere. A look at the OS map suggests that there is plenty of suitable habitat in north Sussex for both of these declining red listed species (much of it little visited) so keep your eyes (and ears) open while doing your Atlas surveys....
