| Sighting Description |
After clear skies at night, I didn't hold out too much hope of many migrants being around. At Church Norton around 08.30 we managed to see a juvenile Cuckoo, 2 Common Redstarts (one of which was a very obliging 1st winter bird), Garden Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat, Reed, Sedge and Willow Warblers, 6 Wheatears on the beach, 6 Yellow Wagtails that flew over west, 6 Common Buzzards thermaling overhead and a female Peregrine hunting in the harbour. At the Ferry pool a Wood Sandpiper flew in from the harbour and landed in the back channel and out of view while 3 Common Sandpipers, 3 Wheatears and a Whinchat all added to the day list. At the Visitor Centre it was nice to see 2 small tortoiseshells on the buddleia and a Wasp Spider was still by the Ferry Channel - not a bad morning! |
