At its 4 July meeting the SOS Council agreed to pay £3000 for a satellite tag to be fitted to a Cuckoo in Sussex next year, as part of the on-going BTO Cuckoo-tagging Project. Phil Atkinson, Head of International Research at BTO, described this as “fantastic news”.

We have naming rights for this Cuckoo and may call him/her “Sussex”. We are hoping that “our” Cuckoo survives for quite a while and look forward to being able to find out where it gets to. We will also be working with BTO to provide a live map of its progress directly to this website.
