An excellent final sum raised of £882, which will go towards nest boxes for Tree Sparrows and Redstarts.

The winning species total was 121 from the Bald Eagles - a new record for this event.  The Silk family (109) raced around and pipped the Muppets (108) into second place.  The Egrets (East Grinstead RSPB) were 4th with 85 and the all-female Hen Harriers (83) were delighted to beat their male counterparts the Ashdown Harriers (79).  The Simsens found 75 and contributed most to the funds, John Newnham, Brian Clay et al totted up 70 in their traditional New Year walk from Shoreham along the Adur to Bines Bridge, and in last place were the Henfield Birders (54) who restricted themselves to Henfield Parish and beat their 2007 total by 4.
