Sighting Description

The shorter route of a mile and a half or so and back by the River Arun to the south of Arundel produced some indications of movement with at least 46 Lapwings and a Greenshank, but only 5 Common Sandpipers and a single Little Egret. More passerines than of late, with a Lesser Whitethroat, 3 Common Whitethroats, 4 Reed Warblers, 1 Sedge Warbler and up to 5 Willow Warblers and about 2 Chiffchaffs. The beanfield next to Billycan Camping had about 12 Reed Buntings, down on last week perhaps because of the activities of at least 3 Kestrels in the area. Also present on the route yesterday was a Marsh Harrier, the first for a few weeks.
