| Sighting Description |
Forgot to post this report for yesterday. Birding walk at Cocking Hill and in the West Dean Wood area. Mixed sunshine and cloud with temperatures around 20C making it a very sultry walk indeed. Plenty of Common Buzzard activity but surprisingly only a single Red Kite noted, Hobby and Sparrowhawk. Single Turtle Dove flew over the South Downs Way. Plenty of Crossbills in the woods with parties of 21, 4, 2 & 3 noted with a few Siskins. We could still hear Firecrest singing with a few birds recorded at new sites. Adult Med Gull flew south. Very few butterflies noted with only three Silver-washed Fritillaries. (Bernie Forbes, Dave Smith & Dorian Mason). |
