Sighting Description

Despite our best efforts to keep them out, rabbits still manage to get into our garden, and we felt a mixture of delight and despair to find a family of tiny bunnies munching our bedding plants. We also have Magpies breeding close by, and yesterday were startled to see one pick up a baby rabbit and attempt to fly off with it. Following my wife’s loud protestations, it was dropped, apparently unharmed, but this morning we found fine rabbit fur scattered over the lawn, so we suspect the Magpie returned for a dawn raid. Has anyone else witnessed this? I was unaware that Magpies took rabbits, but the BWP does list them as food items.
