Sighting Description

Fairly quiet morning at Selsey Bill which was to be expected with the wind blowing from the northwest and yes you guessed it still very cold although we managed the entire day without any rain! Chris Janman is keeping the Selsey log so I won’t go into to much detail. We had 2 Swifts come in off the sea, 3 Great Skuas (2E 1W), 2 Wheatears on the beach, Razorbill E and Red-throated Diver on the sea and then east. Offshore at least 8 Little Terns. Church Norton: cold and relatively quiet with only 7 Wheatears around the old harbour entrance and a single Whimbrel. A flat winged buzzard-type raptor flew high over the harbour inland but, by the time we got onto it, we only had a tail end view as it disappeared - very frustrating. On one of the inland commons: 2 Tree Pipits singing, at least 2 pair of Woodlarks, 3 pairs of Stonechats, male Dartford Warbler, Redpoll and hunting Hobby. (Bernie Forbes, Dave Smith & Dorian Mason).
